HEADSTICKS REAL TIME LIVE CHESTERFIELD

HEADSTICKS REAL TIME LIVE CHESTERFIELD

WHENEVER you see a band, it’s always worth catching the support slot, as I did on Scottish rockers Peat & Diesel’s tour last year. So when that particular support announced a UK tour, Headsticks became a calling. Hailing from the Stoke area and with an ever growing fanbase at their side, Headsticks are reaching new heights with their self-proclaimed ‘Revolutionary Punk Roots Rock’n’Roll’ which has cross genre appeal, very evident to the rather large crowd at Chesterfield’s finest venue, Real Time Live.

Opening to strong roars with Keyboard Warriors and The God Song, this powerful foursome had the  crowd in their hands, and it stayed there until their allotted fourteen song set ended. With new album, The Best Thing On T.V. getting plenty of airplay, Pantomime being one of several, vocalist Andrew, Nick on bass, Doon on guitar and tubsman Tom more than did themselves proud on this joint headlining show, tonight top honours went to high energy rockers Shanghai Treason, who again did well.

Since late 2012, Headsticks have relentlessly gigged and recorded, with their hard work now truly coming to fruition with albums and live performances receiving rave reviews from all corners of the musical spectrum. With catchy choruses, noticeable on fan favourite Tiger Tiger, barbed lyrics, irresistible riffs, and uplifting beats combined with a wry sense of humour, the band nicely added social commentary to encapsulate their unique spirit. Whether it’s the full throttle, heart pounding stompers, the anthemic singalongs, or the semi acoustic stuff, Headsticks delivered a polished performance, built on honesty, integrity, bloody hard work, and a passion for what they believe.

And, get your head around this; we even got back to the sticks earlier, thanks to sensible finishing times.
