Meet Hear The Sirens

A new Sheffield-based all-female band celebrating the music of influential female artists and bands from the New Wave, punk, alternative and pop scenes.

SOMETIMES, the best things begin with a simple idea.
In August, 2025, artist Chloe Cochrane’s vision was to create an all-female band celebrating the music and spirit of iconic artists from the late 1970s and early 1980s.
Inspired by legendary performers such as Debbie Harry, Chrissie Hynde, Pauline Black, Poly Styrene, Siouxsie Sioux and the all-female bands that helped shape the New Wave era, Chloe shared an image on social media from the famous ‘Ladies Tea Party’ photo shoot that featured these artists and asked a simple question: “Who’s up for being in a band influenced by these ladies?”
Meet Hear The Sirens
The response led to the formation of Hear The Sirens.
Bringing together a group of talented women from diverse backgrounds, the line-up features Chloe on lead vocals, artist Kathy Cookson on guitar, writer Anne Grange on bass and Nicki Denton, a mental health nurse from Woodseats, playing drums.
From the outset, the band’s mission was clear: an all-female band performing songs by female artists. Chloe felt there were too few female bands on the local scene, particularly featuring women in their 40s and 50s. Rather than waiting for someone else to step forward, she decided to make it happen herself.
After a year of rehearsals, Hear The Sirens made their live debut at Sidney & Matilda in Sheffield, opening for two established acts. The performance was such a success that the venue invited them back as headliners just a few weeks later.
Since then, the band has continued to build momentum, attracting growing interest through live performances and social media.
Combining experience, passion and a love of live performance, these performers deliver energetic sets that honour the women who helped shape modern music.
With a packed schedule of upcoming shows, including appearances at Zephyr’s Bar, Alder Bar and the annual charity fundraiser hosted by the band ’77’ at The New Barrack Tavern, Hear The Sirens is proving that great music, strong friendship and a shared passion for celebrating female artists is a formula that truly resonates.
What began as a Facebook post has become one of Sheffield’s most exciting new live acts, bringing the soundtrack of pioneering women in music to a whole new audience.
Forthcoming Hear The Sirens gigs include: 28th November, Zephyrs Bar, John Street, Sheffield; 7th February, Alders Bar, Kelham Island; 13th February, New Barrack Tavern, Hillsborough.
