MASSIVE WAGONS HOLMFIRTH PICTURE DOME

BEING BLUNT and coming straight to the point, Massive Wagons, with seven albums under their collective belts, should be just that, Massive! I grasp music has changed, but many of the big gangs from the past had climbed the ‘big time’ after album three, yet this likable five some didn’t seem to care as they hit Holmfirth with passionate overdrive, as the crowd lapping up openers, Missing on T.V. being a fan favourite.

If its energy you’re after, this Lancaster five some have it in spades as they all bounced along nicely with front man and vocalist Barry Mills being especially busy on the sweating front.
With a sell out show to play to, the band knocked out a plethora of tunes from many of their albums including, Bangin’ In Your Stereo, Hero, Fun Whilst It Lasted to name but a few. At times brothers Adam and Alex Thistlethwaite, Stevie Holl and Adam Bouskill played like their life’s depended on it as the crowd lapped up the music with cheers, claps and smiles.
With foursome support act Scarlet Rebels also doing themselves proud, this was certainly one of the strongest gigs I’ve seen in a while with a decent stage design plus decent lighting, something some bands forget about. And whilst it’s always great seeing full houses and people literally queuing around the block to get in, most people were over a certain vintage, which is also good.

Hailing from Lancaster, Massive Wagons have been a unit now since 2009 and given that I did think a smattering of twenty somethings might have been present, I’m guessing their hold on phones and social media dictated other things.
